يقوم قسم علوم الفلك والفضاء والارصاد الجوية - كلية العلوم - جامعة القاهرة بتنظيم رحلة علمية سنوية لطلاب القسم الى مرصد القطامية الفلكي التابع للمعهد القومي للبحوث الفلكية والجيوفيزيقية. يتم خلال الرحلة تدريب عملى على كيفية استخدام التليسكوبات في الرصد الفلكي (بالأخص تليسكوب القطامية الكبير) وتحليل البيانات الفلكية
